A pool in your backyard is like having a vacation without having to leave your home and a great way to cool off on the hot days to come. If you are planning to install a new pool, you need to ensure the pool is safe for everyone, especially young children. Below are two ways you can do this so you can enjoy your pool without having to worry about someone getting hurt.

Aluminum Fence

The first thing you should do is to install a fence around the pool. Even if your backyard is fenced, you may still want to consider putting another fence around the pool for added protection.

There are different types of fences to choose from. Aluminum fencing would work well for this purpose. You can find it in a variety of colors, such as black, green, white, gold, and more. When choosing an aluminum fence, ensure the bars are closely set so a small child or animal could not fit through them. Consider the height of the fence also, as you do not want a large dog or an older child to climb the fence and get into your pool.

No matter what type of fence you choose, it should have a gate that automatically latches each time the gate closes. Visit a fence company, like Mills Fence, and tell them you need a pool fence and they can help you choose the right one and install the fence for you.

Pool Alarm

For added security you can install a pool alarm. There are different types of alarms you can choose from. One alarm will alert you if someone gets in the water. To do this, a sensor is installed in the pool to detect water movement. These sensors generally have a limited range so consider installing more than one in your pool. For example, if you have a traditional sized swimming pool one sensor at each end would suffice. There are also alarms that float on top of the water that work in the same way.

There is also a gate alarm that will alert you if the gate is opened. A gate alarm is installed on the gate itself and will also alert you if the gate stays open for a certain period of time.

If you have very small children, you can purchase alarm bracelets for them to wear. A base station is installed in your home and if the child is immersed in water the alarm immediately sounds.

In most states, securing a pool is the law and there may be requirements you have to follow so ensure you check this before you do anything.
